KT&G (President Baek Bok-in) has been chosen as an outstanding company in the area of climate change response and water resource operation run by CDP (Carbon Information Disclosure Project), an international environmental information assessment department.

KT&G was chosen as an exceptional company (Leadership grade) in the feedback to climate change and water resource operation at the ‘CDP Korea Awards’ held at the Glad Hotel in Yeouido on the 10th. Exclusively, six of the award-winning companies, as well as KT&G, received the highest grades in both areas.

KT&G has founded the ‘2030 Green Impact’, with a mid- to long-term environmental operation outlook, and is running ESG operation to attain carbon neutrality for all homes. It has set a target to decrease greenhouse gas transmissions, which adds to restricting the raise in global temperature to within 1.5 degrees, and has further reinforced the safety and objectivity of data by getting third-party authentication of greenhouse gas transmissions from all supply chains. In 2021, it also gained a 2.7% cut in greenhouse gas emissions from domestic and abroad business sites in comparison to the prior year.

The target of cutting the amount of water used by domestic and abroad construction sites by 20% in 2030, in comparison to 2020, has been set up and is being completed in the water resource operation sector. In the time to come, we will prepare to use systematic environmental supervision by using sustainable energy, advancing water recycling, and rejuvenating the supply chain operation. 

CDP is a charitable operation founded in the UK in 2000. It asks for the disclosure of the environmental report from about 18,000 businesses around the world and evaluates this information. Additionally, as well as with Morgan Stanley International (MSCI), it is acknowledged as a trustworthy worthwhile evaluation company.

A KT&G official stated, “We were chosen as an outstanding CDP business in awareness of our skill in responding to climate change and systematic water resource supervision in line with international standards. We will persist to advertise honest ESG management by taking the lead in building the shift to a circular economy,” he said.
